APRIL PTF NOTES
Praises:
1. Grandparents Day went great! Thank you to Kelly Ledford and to all the volunteers who helped make it happen!
2. Last Breakroom Blessing of the year was a hit! Thank you to all who contributed.
3. Praise that CCS will remain at GOTA for 2 more years!
May Events
May 5- 9 Teacher Appreciation Week
Monday, May 5: Thank you notes - Parents and students are encouraged to send in notes and pictures of appreciation.
Tuesday, May 6: CFA lunch - Teachers and staff will receive an extended duty free lunch courtesy of Chick fil A. We will need parent volunteers from 11:30 - 12:30 to cover classes and front office. K-5 will be at lunch and recess. 6-8 will be in class.
Wednesday, May 7: Elective and Admin Day - Gift baskets will be presented to all non homeroom teachers. Organized by Ashley Campbell, gifts can be dropped off the week before and gathered in Mrs. Bednar's office. (Car washes begin to allow time for all cars to be completed.)
Thursday, May 8: Car Wash and Detail Day - Jamie will touch base with Shelley to organize a schedule for all teachers and staff to be included over the two days.
Friday, May 9: Gift Cards and Gift Baskets - Room Parents will coordinate gifts for classroom/homeroom teachers. Jen Binnacker will email all room moms. It is up to the room mom to organize the gift for their classroom teacher.
Please send contributions to the car wash fund to the PTF Venmo (@CharlestonChristian-School) by May 1.
May 12-16 MAP testing
May 28 - End of Year Celebration 10:30 AM- 2PM
Charleston Jump Castles will need to arrive at 8am. Popcorn is not included in their rental. PTF discussed and decided not to have popcorn. Sign Up genius will be organized to include set up, clean up, coolers of ice and water, cups for snow cones, tent, distributing lunch, chips. Jamie and Shelley will work on a map of stations and times.
May 29 - Eighth Grade Graduation
Hosted by seventh grade. Sarah Todd and Jamie Kornegay will lead organizing cupcakes and decorations.

March 20: CFA was provided for the teachers on Thursday morning.
March 28: Grandparents Day celebration for grades K-5th. Sign up genius created and Emailed for volunteers.
- March 27 set up tables and decorate 2-3pm.
We could use a few more volunteers to help set up tables. - March 28 chapel 11am and lunch at 11:45am, catered by Kelly Ledford
- There will be a photo booth set up with Jodi Harter helping families take their photos.
- We are working on question cards for connecting conversations and additional activities.
- We could use a few more volunteers to help put up tables.
April 7: Breakroom blessings will be provided by the PTF. A sign up genius will be sent out the Monday prior by Sarah Cates.
Remainder of the year: Snack Cart sign up genius has been working on filling in spots. Feedback has been very positive. Looks like more sweets need to be replenished. Snack Cart will have to be skipped for March 28 due to Grandparents Day celebration.
Looking Ahead
April 14 - 21: Spring Break
May 5 - 9: Teacher Appreciation Week - Ideas presented and discussed.
These are the tentative plans:
- Monday, May 5th: Thank you notes and words of affirmation from students and parents for all faculty and staff.
- Tuesday, May 6th: Lunch provided by Chick Fil A.
- The teachers will have duty free lunch from 11:45am - 12:35pm. Will ask for parent volunteers to help cover lunch and recess for elementary and class for middle school.
- Wednesday, May 7th: Elective, Non Homeroom teachers, and Staff Members Day
- Baskets will be provided for families to bring in gifts for members of the staff and faculty members that do not have homerooms. Ashley Campbell will set up baskets and responsibility for assembling gifts.
- Thursday, May 8th: Car Wash Day
- PTF will send out the link to the venmo account where families can donate to a car wash fund to have a company come in and wash and detail cars as a gift. The logistics may require scheduling to be Wednesday and Thursday to fit everyone in.
- Friday, May 9th: Gift cards or other gifts for teachers
- This will be arranged by the room moms. They may want to check in with the homeroom teacher to see if class supplies are needed or may want to take up a collection versus individual gifts.
Sarah Cates is going to send out an email newsletter twice in April (before and after spring break). This will give parents plenty of time to plan how they may want to help.

This is accomplished through school- wide events, such as our school fundraiser (Lap- A-Thon), classroom parties, teacher appreciation, breakroom blessings for the teachers, and our end of year celebration. We need a LOT of volunteers to make this successful!

PTF Notes - February 20, 2025

Shout Outs:
1. Pop Up Shop: Thank you to Sara Todd and Amanda Ross for volunteering to organize inventory.
2. Uniform Closet Clean- Up: Thank you to Paige Markland for promptly fulfilling that need.
3. Quarterly Newsletter: Thank you to Sarah Cates for creating an amazing newsletter.
4. February Breakroom Blessings: Thank you to all middle school families who provided for this quarter's blessings.
5. Day of Prayer: Thank you to all you were able to participate. Most of the slots were filled!
6. Snack Cart Inventory: Thank you to Kimberly Allston for leading this responsibility.
Volunteers Needed:
We need volunteers to work the snack cart from 11:30 - 12:45 on Mondays and Wednesdays. Go to signup genius to see if you are able to fill a spot.
March Events:
1. Lowcountry Boil: Saturday, March 1st at 5 PM. Hosted by the Troyer family. It is $75 dollars per adult and $20 per child. We need to have more people signed up to consider continuing to host. Mr. Beall spoke with Mrs. Bednar about adjusting the link.The money raised from this event goes to the Annual Fund for CCS. So far, the Fundraising committee reports being two thirds of the way to their goal for the year.
2. CFA Breakfast: Shelley has squared away the CFA breakfast for teachers on March 20.
3. Grandparents Day: Friday, March 28, Kindergarten through 5th grade grandparents are invited to a chapel at 11:00 with a catered lunch following at 11:45. Lunch is catered by Kelly Ledford. A sign up genius will be created to have a few people to set up tables the day before and day of, clean up, and execute activities. May set up photo back drop for hall ways. Jodi volunteered to help with that station helping grandparents with photos. We still could use someone to help lead and organize this as a small committee. Click here for sign up genius.
Lap a thon: The final decision regarding Booster service upgrade will continue to be tabled until the next meeting.
May 5-9 Teacher Appreciation Week: Parents encouraged to touch base with teachers to discuss needs and wants.
May 28: End of Year Celebration: Jen Binnicker is going to research new vendors.
Next meeting is March 20. April Meeting will be April 10th.

PTF NOTES JANUARY 2025
1. Thank you!
Thank you to all who participated and volunteered in December activities. The month was very busy and the committee greatly appreciates all who helped make it happen.
2. School Promotion
CCS is working to promote the school and encourage new enrollment! Here are some ways you can help: write positive reviews on all social media platforms, distribute flyers to neighborhoods and small businesses, Mrs. Bednar is also looking for one more family to participate in a featured family campaign, etc. Contact Mrs. Bednar if you are interested in participating in the Featured Family opportunity.
3. Pop Up Shop
Pop- Up Shop extended to February 3. We need a volunteer to help Sara Todd in the last week of February handle and sort the orders to be distributed.
4. Uniform Exchange
Volunteer Needed for uniform closet clean up. One or two people needed to make sure clothes are properly sorted, folded, and generally tidied up. It is a simple project that just needs a person or two to spend a few hours of attention.
5. February Events
-February 6th - Day of Prayer: a sign up list was emailed out to volunteer for a spot. Prayer lists are provided.
-February 10th - Breakroom Blessings: The committee will coordinate with Middle School families to arrange goodies for teachers and staff in the work room.
-February 14th - Valentine's Day: It is a half day, but all classes will celebrate that Friday from 11-12. Middle school will be in the gym. Elementary will be in the classrooms. Second grade will be on the playground. Room parents will coordinate with teachers on what the party will involve. Room parents will help get a class list for the parents. Remember to include all students.
6. March Events
-March 1 - Lowcountry Boil at the Troyers House: Tickets will go on sale beginning Monday, February 3. Adult tickets will be $75 and children tickets will be $20. It is open to anyone including extended family, alumni, and community members. Staff and teachers tickets are complimentary.
-March 20 - Chick Fil A breakfast for teachers: The front office will organize.
-March 21 - Grandparents Day: Ms. Chandler would like to have a volunteer to help facilitate this activity. May need a committee as well. Today we discussed limiting the activity to just elementary school. It will be a chapel and then a lunch immediately following. Plans and details are still being discussed and will be finalized.
7. Immediate Need
The snack cart needs to be organized and running ASAP. The snack cart is a fundraiser for the 7th and 8th grade trip in May. Last year it raised enough money to take off $100 from each child. We are in need of an adult to be in charge of ordering and restocking. There also will be a sign up genius created to have adults present for the snack card sales. More details to come, but need a volunteer in charge.
Next PTF meeting is February 20th.

Conferences will be held Thursday, October 31. There will be NO SCHOOL and 5th- 8th grade students must attend with parents.

September PTF Notes
1. Day of Prayer
Mr. Bednar met to explain a new upcoming event, Day of Prayer, held on Thursday, October 10 from 8- 3. Sign ups will be created to fill in slots so that there will be someone praying at all times during the day. A Prayer guide will be around to help people with specific prayers. An email will be sent out on September 26.
2. Breakroom Blessings
November 18th is the next Breakroom Blessings. Kindergarten through second grades will be asked to contribute. A sign up list and more details will come closer to the date. It will be a thankful theme.
Chick fil A has generously donated lunch and breakfast for the teachers. The following are the tentative dates for the year:
-October 31 is lunch
-December 12 is breakfast
-March 20 is breakfast
-May 6 is lunch
For the October 31 lunch during the staff development day, Shanna Nimmons and Rebecca Maddox have volunteered to set tables.
3. Budget Notes
Sara Todd has gone through the budget for the year to allow for Teacher Appreciation, Lapathon, End of year Celebration, and Christmas and Spring Programs. Jeff Beall added that there was a 40 percent increase in sponsorship from business sponsors.
4. Lap a Thon
Goes Live September 30. Video will be shown in chapel. The goal this year is $30,000 with funds raised going to moving costs.
5. Financial team
Email will be sent out on Monday, September 30 with instructions on how to donate and use Boosterthon program.
6. Spirit Team
Chapel will start kick off with a video. Chick fil A cow will also be present at dismissal. Eighth grade gets to suggest spirit day dress up themes with approval by Mrs. Chandler. There was a suggestion about purchasing an inflatable arch that can be used at starting line and saved to be reused each year along with other potential events. The cost will be around 200 dollars. The committee will discuss that further with office staff and Ms. Chandler. Another suggestion was made that the kids decorate a large sheet of poster paper for the kids to run through at the starting line. Rebecca Maddox is going to reach out to Kevin Giordano about using Charleston Baptist's sound system.
7. Prize Team
Rewards will work similar to last year. Kids will be awarded tickets per money donated. One ticket is awarded for every ten dollars donated. Tickets will be divided up and then given to teachers to be handed out before coming to the store. Prizes will be ordered in categories of 1 ticket, 5 tickets, 10 tickets, and 15 tickets. Prizes will be ordered through the office. Trying to finalize big prizes. Possible prizes may include Stars and Strikes, Riverdogs, Urban Air (new location), Amazon, and new indoor adventure park near Tanger. Preparing to have prize announcements made for next week. Prize store will be on Tuesdays beginning on October 8. The store will wrap up the week after Lap a thon.
Tiki's Snoball is confirmed for 2-3 pm on October 24.
8. Sign up genius will be sent out for day needs - tents, coolers of ice, volunteers, clean up, water bottles. More squirt bottles will need to be ordered.
Race will begin around 9.

August PTF Notes

1. Room Parent Volunteers
Room Parent Coordinator is Jennifer Binnicker. She will send out a notification to all the room parents confirming their participation. Room parents should then reach out to teachers to introduce themselves. Ashley Campbell and Sara Todd will serve as the room parent for non homeroom teachers including Radebaugh, Castro, Batzig, Mood, Cummings, and Harter. For middle school, the homeroom teachers are as follows: sixth grade is Mrs. Flaugher, seventh grade is Mr. Bednar, and eighth grade is Ms. O'Neil.
2. Break Room Blessings
Committee is made up of Kate Bailey, Sarah Cates, and Lisa Christian. Goal is to decorate breakroom and coordinate quarterly refreshments for teachers and faculty. The tentative dates for this years Break Room Blessings are:
- September 23 provided by 3rd -5th families
- November 18 provided by K-2nd families
- February 10 provided by 6th -8th families
- April 7 provided by PTF
3. Treasurer Update
Treasurer, Sara Todd, provided status of funds. Emergency Funds are $1000. PTF still has $3,294 earmarked for Gaga ball pit improvements that has never been settled. We will revisit Gaga ball funds at a later meeting. May need to reallocate funds to another project. The PTF currently has $4,053.32 in account for operations.
4. Lap-a-Thon
Date set for Thursday, October 24, 2024. School has elected to use Booster-thon as its financial platform. The PTF has divided the jobs of Lap a thon into three teams: Spirit Team, Prize Team, and Financial Team.
- The Spirit Team will be responsible for save the date, event launch, spirit week and themes, posters and incentives, day of run supplies such as sunglasses, color powder, lap count stickers, possible balloon or decor, and other decorations, etc...
- The Prize Team will be responsible for purchasing prizes for weekly give aways, devise Grand Prizes for top 3 total donation winners, organize class party for top K-5th and top middle school classes, organized weekly lunch hour prize giveaways...
- The Financial Team will be responsible to set up Booster thon platform, keep track of donations, updating goal thermometer, print out weekly pledge list for the prize team. This team will include Ms. Chandler as the financial responsible party.
Closer to run date will have a sign up genius sent out by Jamie Kornegay. Tiki Sno Cone will be asked to provide sno cones again. Team sign up sheet was sent around the meeting and an email sign up will be sent out school wide to seek as much involvement and assistance as possible. Teams also need to begin work promptly to have launch ready in one month.
